SOUTH END BY SEA - THE PLACE TO BE

Half of Home Slice was in South-end-on-Sea last weekend for a bit of rest bite from the city.  With us being of northern origin there are a lot of seaside towns of the south that we have not yet explored. Each one seems to get better and South-End is a true classic.  Here are a few snaps of the trip.
Pinwheels on every stall whizzing like mad in the sea breeze. We played a spot of crazy golf, Aztec themed crazy golf no less.

South end has the longest pier in the world- fact. It is so long there is a train that takes you to the end and back. We chose to walk (to counter act our chippy lunch) and according to the pedometer on my iPhone it was 2.5KM long! This is the view back towards the beach.
Then it was then on to the penny arcades - you might have seen this  pic on our Instagram but seriously, what a carpet!
LOVE Richard Scarry and his speedy worm. I wanted a ride but i couldn't fit in it.

I would have taken more but I was too busy stuffing dinky donuts in my face and marveling at the prison tats, it was a great day and only £19.50 for a return ticket for two from Liverpool street.  A perfect summer Saturday, you should go!

One for the Dads......

http://shop.homeslicedesign.com/product/sachet-pocket-apron

Fathers day is fast approaching, a chance to say thanks for all the gifts and wisdom our fathers have passed on us throughout the years. Such gems as "If you buy cheap you buy twice", '"Turn the lights off its like Blackpool illuminations in here" and "go an play in t' road" (hmm...)

And not to forget the sunny days when the BBQ would come out and Dad would man the coals, on his own, all day because he was the BBQ king and no one else could possible cook our sausages to such burnt perfection as Dad.

To celebrate this and to say thanks to all the Dads for all the carbonated snags we have 25% off our aprons up until Fathers day on Sunday 15th June.

Our Sachet Pocket Apron is man in UK, has a handy pocket on the front with our Sachet repeat print  and contrast red strapping. The Dads love them!

Dear Mum...

In case you haven't written a card or a note in your diary, its Mums day this Sunday.
Go on, make her a brew and breakfast in bed, (if you can.)

Or at a long distance, send a shiny new mug to make her own in. Order by Thursday to get there get there gift wrapped and in good time.

Only in England...

The title sums up this show perfectly, Only In England, said in a rolling your eyes tone.

Martin Parr has rummaged through Tony Ray-Jones archive and brought together a huge, charming collection of his photography, analysing sixties Britain's quiet eccentricities. Ray-Jones works are then followed by Parr's 1970's (mainly northern) subjects, with the same humour and honour.

This super smashing great exhibition is at the Science Museum, till the 16th March, this Sunday! Do go and feel pleasantly patriotic.

Because four is always better than one........

Due to popular demand we are now selling our infamous Chippy plates as a full set of 4. This includes one of each of our chippy designs for the wonderful price of £75.00. What could be more tempting than that........(apart from the real deal wrapped up in paper, hot on your knee as you drive home whilst trying not to salivate on the dashboard)

Striking for strikes...

Amongst London's urge to turn character filled hangouts into flashy flats, Rowans Bowling alley in London's Finsbury Park is next on the list for closure. If you haven't been, its a wonderful 1950's American inspired place (opened way before they became cool and on Brick Lane.) Its has hand painted signage, 2p slot machines, vodka slush puppies, dj's on a weekend and the most frightening grabber machine toys known to man (bottom left pic.)

If you haven't been, GO, have a lovely evening, then sign this petition to save Rowans!
